About Horizon Detail
Hi, my name is Mike and I own Horizon Detail. I started detailing cars long before it became a business. Working outside in driveways on friends' cars making them look good for summer cruises before I even had a license. What started as something I just loved doing turned into an obsession, figuring out how to make every car look better than anyone expected.
That obsession never went away. It just got sharper.
I've tested countless ceramic coating formulas, 100s of them. I have a background in working with manufacturers, product development, and testing. We only work with manufacturers who make their own coatings and avoid brands that buy white label coatings (this makes up 90-95% of the ceramic coating market) and re-package the same lame formula, slapping their name on someone else's product.
I've had direct access to the manufacturers we work with, learning the formulas inside and out. What they do well, what they could do better, and more importantly, why. When you understand why something is the way it is, you understand how to improve it, (see here). I've spent years refining my process, testing products, developing my own HD Bond™ technology, and figuring out how to get results that other shops aren't able to get.
I believe the desire to keep getting better, to keep improving, to keep learning, is what keeps us fresh. It's what keeps us passionate.
I'm a single dad to an incredible 14-year-old son. He's my "why." The reason I push myself to be better at everything I do.
I've coached soccer in Crown Point for over 6 years, in-house and travel teams, a few championships, a few runner-ups. I teach kids to work hard, stay focused, and care about what they're doing. But most importantly? To have fun doing it. I coach golf, I play golf, my son is a jr golfer representing his Jr PGA team multiple times at the all-star tournaments in Indy. I love to cook too, especially for my son. Always trying to top the last meal, get a bigger grin out of him than I did last time.
I'm big on teaching. I bring that vibe to detailing as I've also trained hundreds of detailers across the country. Working with IGL Coatings, as well as two organizations I co-founded, Higher Ground for Detailers and Certified Professional Detailers, I provided high-end training on paint correction, advanced paint correction, wet sanding, ceramic coating installation, troubleshooting, and advanced installation. With Horizon Detail you're getting the teacher, not the student.
But here's the common thread through it all. I'm all-in on the things I care about. I don't do things halfway. When I work on a car, I pour everything into making it the best it can possibly be. That's the mindset behind everything at Horizon Detail.
