Ceramic Coating Warranty Comparisons

3rd Party vs Manufacturer’s vs In-House
There’s a number of warranty options out there, shops advertising 3rd Party warranties, shops offering manufacturer’s warranties, and shops like us that offer in-house warranties.
3rd Party Warranties
Some shops offer 3rd party warranties, which sounds great on paper, until you actually need to use one. The problem is simple: there’s now a middleman between you and the person who did your coating. That middleman’s job isn’t to honor claims; it’s to evaluate them. And in our experience, automotive warranties are designed to be difficult to claim. We’ve seen too many situations where customers get caught in the fine print or blame-game between the shop and the warranty company.
We decided early on: no middlemen. If there’s an issue, you deal directly with us, the same people and shop who did the work.
Manufacturer’s Warranties
Manufacturer warranties sound official and legitimate, and they can be when they’re honored. But here’s what most people don’t realize: these warranties are essentially agreements between the shop and the manufacturer, where the shop takes on all the warranty responsibility. If something goes wrong, the manufacturer might reimburse the cost of the coating product (one kit, not the two the shop actually used), but all the labor? That’s on the shop.
This creates a perverse incentive for shops to find reasons to void warranties. Improper washing, harsh chemicals, automated car washes, whatever they can point to. It’s not universal, but it’s common enough that we chose a different path.
Horizon Detail’s In-House Warranty
We warranty our work directly. No middlemen. No manufacturer pointing fingers. Just us standing behind what we do.
Here’s how it works: We cover any issues related to workmanship or product defects/failures. If something goes wrong, we’ll figure out why and fix it. We’re not looking for excuses to void your warranty. We’re looking to put coatings on the road that never need the warranty in the first place.
Our HD Bond™ system is designed for durability, and in the rare case there’s an issue, you’re working directly with the person who did your install. We’re transparent about what’s covered, and we only charge additional costs if there’s repair work needed beyond the warranty scope or repeated instances of abuse or neglect.
You’re in good hands, without the headache of navigating warranty companies or fine print designed to deny claims.
